SPECIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
BROILER SHOW
1. All entries in this department will be subject to the General
Rules and Regulations of the Wood County Jr. Livestock Show
except where they conflict with these “Special Rules” of this
department, in which case the “Special Rules” will prevail.
2. Only 3 live birds from the original distribution will be
weighed and sifted between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM
on Thursday. All crippled birds will be sifted by the
superintendent.
3. Exhibitors of broilers must be present for the weigh-in
unless excused by their supervisor (County Agent or Vocational
Agriculture Teacher) and also by the Superintendent of the
broiler show. This weight will be determined as the final show
and sale weight.
4. A $10.00 entry fee with completed Project Entry Form will be due by the third
Monday in January. All broilers entered must have a sponsor who
has agreed to offer the first bid of 150.00 in the Livestock
Show Sale.
5. All chicks shall be ordered through the Show Superintendent
and distributed on a designated date at a designated time. Each
exhibitor will receive an equal number of chicks.
6. The supervisor of the project and the exhibitor must certify
that the broilers have been owned and fed by the exhibitor since
the date of hatch.
7. Any broilers judged unworthy by the Sifting Committee will
not be permitted in the show or sale and the sponsor is released
from all of his obligations.
8. A pen of broilers consists of three birds, with a minimum
weight of 13.5 pounds and can be weighed only once at the show
weigh-in. (See Scale Tolerance in General
Rules)
9. Broiler exhibitors must be present to hold their broilers for
the judge on Friday.
10. Broilers will be judged for sale order immediately following
the Broiler Show.
11. The three birds selected for exhibition and show are NOT to
be removed from their pen except for
showing.
12. Any deviation from these rules will require Livestock Show
Executive Board action.
13. All birds will receive wing bands prior to distribution. No
birds will be shown without bands. No exceptions.
