SPECIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
DAIRY


1. All entries in this department will be subject to the General Rules and regulations of the Wood County Market Livestock Show except where they conflict with these “Special Rules” in which the “Special Rules” will prevail.

2. Completed Project Entry Forms and entry fee must be presented to superintendent prior to validation.

3. Entry fee for the dairy heifer show must be paid at the time of entry/tattoo, the first Monday in December. (8:30 AM until 5:00 PM) (Or a date determined by the Show Committee).

4. There will be age classes of dairy cattle as follows:
             Class I - heifers born September 1 - November 30, 2008.
             Class II - heifers born March 1 – August 31, 2008.
             Class III - heifers born September 2, 2006 – February 28, 2008.
             Class IV - heifers born prior to September 1, 2007.
 

(a)     Any exhibitor wishing to declare his/her heifer bred must have this heifer certified bred by a DVM by palpation and noted on health papers.

(b)      A cow that has freshened or calved no more than 72 hours prior to the livestock show may be eligible.
 

5. All dairy heifers must exhibit Dairy characteristics. Those not meeting this requirement will be sifted at the December weigh-in time. Any heifer judged unworthy or unruly by the Sifting Committee will not be permitted in the show and sale, and the Sponsor is released from all obligations. ALL HEIFERS MUST HAVE BANGS VACCINATIONS.

6. All heifers entered must have a sponsor who has agreed to offer the first bid at the Wood County Market Livestock Show Sale. Signed sponsor forms must accompany the entry. The sponsor agrees to offer $200.00 above the market price for heifers. Market price will be established by a floor price set by a dairy cattle buyer representing the show. An exhibitor may secure his/her own floor price from an interested party by completing the Dairy Heifer Floor bid price form and presenting it on the Dairy Superintendent at check in.

7. The judge will select a Grand Champion and Reserve Champion then proceed to place the remaining heifers for sale order.

8. Exhibitors must show and sell their own animal.

9. No heifer shall be validated that has been sold in this county show and sale previously.

10. All heifers must be in place between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM on Thursday.

11. Any deviation from these rules will require Livestock Show Executive Board action.
