SPECIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR
MARKET GOAT SHOW


1. All entries in this department will be subject to the General Rules and Regulations of the Wood County Jr. Livestock Show except where they conflict with these rules “Special Rules” in which case the “Special Rules” will prevail.

2. Exhibitors may show one entry, wether goats only. 

3. All goat entries must have a sponsor who agreed to offer the first bid at the Wood Co. Jr. Livestock Show Sale in the amount of $200.00.

4. Project Entry Forms and entry fees, with sponsor information,  is due on the January 12, 2009.  Weigh in between 12 noon and 5 p.m. at the Quitman High School Ag Farm.

5. Any meat goat breed or crosses will be eligible to compete.

6. All goats will be required to be de-horned or have horns tipped. Removal of horns is not allowed on show
grounds.

7. Animals must be slick shorn with 3/8 inch of hair or less (from the knee and hock up) prior to time of weigh-in between 5:00 PM
and 7:30 PM on Thursday.  Head and tip of tail clipping is optional.

8. All goats must weigh a minimum of 65 lbs. at the official weigh-in on Thursday with a maximum of 150 pounds)  Each entry will be weighed no more than twice. There will be a 5 lb scale tolerance. This weight will be the official weight for the record keeping and sale purposes.

9. Animals should be shown with a collar or chain.

10. Any animal judged unworthy or unruly by the sifting committee will not be permitted in the show and sale. The sponsor is released from all obligations.

11. All goats will be judged for “sale order” following the conclusion of the goat show.
