RULES AND REGULATIONS
AG MECHANICS DIVISION
1. Prefabricated or Kit Projects will not be permitted
2. All
projects must be in place between 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 pm on Thursday. Judging
will begin at 4:00 pm the same day. Projects may arrive
earlier than 12:00 pm on Thursday with special permission of the
host.
3. The Ag. mechanics project must be constructed by a FFA or 4-H member in
Wood County,
under the supervision of an AgriScience Teacher or County Extension Agent.
4. Project entry forms and entry fees ($10) must be in
the hands of the Ag Mechanics Superintendent by the final
scheduled pre-show meeting (April 1, 2008). No entries will
be accepted after that date for any reason. They may be mailed or hand delivered. Bills
of materials are due no later than 3:00 pm on the day of the
show. Entry Fees are to be listed as an item on the bill of
material. Students must supply a notebook to the judge
including a simple plan, bill of material, and pictures of
students constructing the project.
5. All exhibitors with projects in the sale must have a sponsor and bid for
the project at the time of entry.
6. Projects listed in the sale must have a minimum sponsor bid of 25% over
material cost.
7. Partnerships on the Ag Mechanics projects will be allowed, but each
individual exhibitor may enter only one project.
Partnership projects will only receive one
award per project.
8. One project per individual or partnership. Chapter or Club projects in the
sale are limited to five. No limit on chapter or club projects in the open
show.
9. Exhibitors must be present during the judging and
available to answer questions from the judge about the
construction and/or function of the project. Other
than show officials, no adults are to be present at the time the
projects are judged.
10. The Wood County Livestock Show will not be responsible for projects in
case of loss or damage.
11. Judging of projects will be based on:
a. Workmanship 300
b. Usefulness 200
c. Knowledge of the Project by the Student 200
c. Design 100
d. Originality 100
e. Finish 100
Total Possible Score 1000

Ribbons will be given for each project based on the following score:
a. Blue 900-1000 points
b. Red 800-900 points
c. White below 800 points
13. The decision of the judge is final.
14. Sale order will be determined by Ag Mechanics
Judge. The Ag Mechanics auction will not be separate from the animal
auction. The projects will be sold in rotation with the livestock
projects.
15. A sale fee of 3% will be charged for projects sold. This
may be off set by the sale of ads.
16. Exhibitors are responsible for delivery of projects within forty miles of
the show.
17. Exhibitors must be present during the sale to take projects into the sale
area.
18. Any deviation from these rules will require action from the Livestock Show
Executive Board.
19. The Ag Mechanics show will consist of two classes.
a. Market Class
– all entries in this class will be sold.
b. Open Class – these entries will not be judged or sold. They are for display only. Entry
forms and entry fees will not be collected on projects in this class.
The number of projects to be exhibited in this division must be given to the
show host at the final scheduled pre-show meeting so they can prepare an
appropriate display area.
20. Agricultural-related restoration projects may be exhibited in the Open
Class. They will not be judged and will not receive awards.
