By-Laws
ARTICLE I
The Executive Board of this organization consists of: the Agricultural Science Teachers
in Wood County and the Wood County Extension Agents.
The following officials elected or appointed by the Executive
Board: the General Superintendent, Assistant
General Superintendent(s), Wood County Show Board treasurer,
secretary and Show Category Superintendents
shall be voting members of and participate in Executive Board
meetings.
Board members may ask others for assistance as they see
necessary. These individuals are not considered
voting members.
ARTICLE II
The By-Laws and Regulations of the Show can be amended with the
approval of the Executive Board.
ARTICLE III
All General and Special Animal Division Regulations will be
written and approved by the Executive Board
members only.
ARTICLE IV
The Executive Board will hold Awareness meeting/Public Forums as
the General Superintendent deems necessary
or as directed by the Executive Board. Discussion of the
individual topics by other than Executive Board members may be
time limited as determined by the General Superintendent.

and Sale Association
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. The Wood Count Livestock
Market Show is open to all Wood County 4-H and FFA members
provided they meet all of the following criteria.

They are enrolled in a Wood
County public, private elementary or secondary school or
live in Wood County at the time of entry through show
sale. |

They are under
the supervision of a Wood County Extension agent or Wood
County Vocational Ag-Science Instructor. |
| 3 |
They have not
sold a project in any other county show in the school
year. |
2. Exhibitors are expected to comply with state and local school
district eligibility rules for extracurricular activities. FFA
advisors, County Extension Agents or 4-H Leaders are responsible
for determining eligibility of students under their supervision.
The show committee leaves the responsibility for determining
eligibility to the individual school districts.
3. All livestock exhibits will be under the direction of the
management, but the show will in no cases be responsible for any
loss, damage, or personal injury that may occur.
4. All animals whether entered singularly or in a group, must be
the legal property of the exhibitor; no lease animals will be
allowed in the show. There shall be no joint ownership of
animals. The animals must have been personally fed and cared for
by the exhibitor. The animal must also be in the possession of
the exhibitor or immediate family from the time of validation
until the show. The exhibitor must show and sell his own animal.
Any deviation from this policy will require Livestock Show
Association Executive Board approval. A letter from the
exhibitor concerned may be delivered to the Executive board
through the advisor or agent 2 week prior to the show.
5. Diseased animals are barred entry (at all times) into the
show grounds.
6. If an exhibitor has been disqualified from competition in a
show or has had a premium withheld or withdrawn on the grounds
of rule violations involving the misrepresentation; fraud or
deception, it will not be allowed to compete.
7. All applications for entry must be made out on a current
official Wood County Jr. Livestock Show entry in accordance with
instructions on same, giving dept. class, class number, age,
record number and all other
necessary information. Incomplete or incorrect entries are
invalid. A signature of a County Extension Agent
or Ag-Science teacher shall be required attesting to the
eligibility of the entry.
8. In all cases, the management reserves the right to reject, or
accept conditionally all entries.
9. Strict adherence is paid to entry deadline dates in each
division.
10. To be accepted, applications for entry must be accompanied
by the correct entry fee or fees. All market animal entries must
be complete with sponsor information.
11. Entry fees will not be refunded after having been accepted.
All divisions will have a $10.00 entry fee. All fees are due at the time of entry.
12. The showing of unethically fitted livestock or livestock of
any ineligible age for exhibition in the class entered is
prohibited.
13. All animals must be kept in the assigned stall area after
being checked in and may not be removed from the grounds prior
to the conclusion of the Premium Auction without a special order
given by the show superintendent.
14. The decision of the judges shall be final in all classes.
15. Judging will not be delayed for animals entering the arena
late.
16. All stall, pens, and
exhibition places must be cleaned before 7:00 am of Show Day and
trash material disposed of as directed by the Livestock Show.
All exhibitors must clean their stall and pen, arena, and
deposit trash at designated area before being released.
17. Only blue ribbon animals will be eligible for champion or
reserve champion honors. All blue ribbon animals in their
division will sell before the red and white in their division.
18. ANY EXHIBITOR WITH AN ANIMAL IN THE WOOD CO. JR. LIVESTOCK
MARKET SHOW SALE HAS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF DELIVERING THEIR
ANIMAL OR ANIMALS WITHIN A 40 MILE
RADIUS AS DIRECTED BY HIS BUYER. THE EXHIBITOR MUST CHECK WITH
THE SALE MANAGER AND BE RELEASED BY THE SAME BEFORE SELLERS
OBLIGATIONS ARE FULFILLED.
19. Each exhibitor may validate, show and sell only one animal
entry. In the event an animal dies,
the exhibitor may validate another entry if the tag-in date for
that species has not passed. The exhibitor's AST or CEA
must verify the death of the animal.
20. ALL ANIMALS SHOWN IN THE MARKET SHOW MUST BE SOLD! NO
EXCEPTIONS! All animals put on the resale
truck by the premium buyer may not be removed by the exhibitor.
Resale animals are the soul property of the Resale Buyer and
will be at that individual's discretion. A sale fee of $100.00 will be charged to all
animals projects sold. This fee may be offset by the sale of up
to $100.00 worth of advertising by the exhibitor. The ads sold
must be turned in by the deadline as set by the ad coordinator.
A sale fee of 3% will be charged to all Ag Mechanics projects
sold. The Ag Mechanics sale fee may be offset by the sale of
advertising.
21. Dogs, Horses or other animals not being shown will not be
allowed in the livestock area, barns, or exhibit areas.
22. Failure to comply with any of the above and forgoing rules
and regulations may result in the forfeiture of awards and sale
eligibility at the discretion of the show committee.
23. All protests must be in a writing and accompanied by a
deposit of $100.00 which will be forfeited if protest is not
sustained. Such protest must state plainly the cause of the
complaint or appeal and must be delivered to the show management
immediately after occasion for such protest. Protests will be
accepted prior to judging. Judging procedures will not be
interrupted for protest investigation. Depending on the basis of
the protest, a decision may be withheld until a complete
investigation is done. Decision of the Grievance Committee is
final.
24. The Wood County Junior Livestock Show Association reserves
the right to withhold sale proceeds (above market value) due to
exhibitors conduct that may be considered unethical or
detrimental towards the success of the Wood County Jr. Market
Show.
25. No premiums will be awarded on sale day.
26. The Grievance Committee will make final decisions on any
show ruling. Their decision is final. The Grievance Committee
will be appointed by the General Superintendent prior to the
start of the show.
27. All Exhibitors are responsible for keeping, maintaining
animals that have had drugs with a withdrawal limit, and deliver
animals to buyer after withdrawal time has passed.
28. No animal may be decorated (ribbons, clothes, bows, etc.)
other than standard show fitting for the premium auction as
determined the superintendent.
29. There shall be no FORCED watering or feeding procedures of
any livestock projects! (for
example: drenches and tube feeders)
30. All sifted animals should be removed from exhibit areas
immediately. The Sifting Committee will consist of the Division
Superintendents and the General Superintendent.
31. Exhibitors will be held responsible if their carcass shows
positive in the blood test and/or tissue
testing. A student with a condemned carcass will forfeit the
floor price of that animal.
32. Checks will not be issued until after preliminary blood work
is complete and every attempt will be made
to have the checks available for the FFA and 4H banquets. If a
carcass is condemned the floor price shall be reimbursed to the
county show before the exhibitor may show a project again.
33. All projects must be weighed/checked in between 5:00PM and
7:30 PM on Thursday.
34. Showmanship awards
will be presented to Junior and Senior Showmanship contestants.
Junior showmanship class will be those exhibitors 13 years of
age and under at the date of the contest. Senior Showmanship
class will be those exhibitors 14 years of age and over at the
date of the contest.
35. All steer, dairy
heifer, swine, lamb and goat exhibitors will turn in a Project
Entry Form at validation.
36. Any exhibitor,
parent or other that shows disrespect for judges,
superintendents and other show officials, may be removed from
the show grounds. This could result in loss of awards, money and
the option of ever participating in this show again.
37. All exhibitors are
responsible for presenting their projects at sale location at
the approved time based on the sale order. Failure to follow
this rule will forfeit their right to sell in the premium
auction.
38.
No High School, Junior High or Elementary Students will be used
as ring persons during the show. This includes handing out
ribbons.
39.
There will be no access to the livestock arena between 10 pm and
6 am during show and sale except for show officials and
security.
40.
There will be a $100 fee assessed to every exhibitor who is not
present or have a representative present to load their animal on
the resale truck, if their animal was put on the resale truck by
the premium buyer.
41.
No parents will be allowed in the show ring while their child is
showing an animal, unless the parent is a show official.
42.
The scale tolerance will be as follows:
rabbits~
3 oz
broilers~ 8 oz per pen of three
goats
and lambs~ 5 lbs
hogs~
10 lbs
steers~
15 lbs
43.
Outside persons will be assigned the task of weighing animals at
check in time. The said weigh master will not be a parent
of an exhibitor in that species, County Agent or Ag Teacher.
Species superintendents will need to be present to record
weights and enforce other rules related to their species.
