SPECIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
MARKET STEER SHOW


1. All entries in the department will be subject to the General Rules and Regulations of the Wood County Jr. Livestock Show except where they conflict with these “special rules” in which case the “special rules” will prevail.

2. Completed Project Entry Forms and entry fee must be presented to superintendent prior to validation.

3. Entry fee for the steer must be paid at the time of initial weigh-in, the first Monday in December. Weigh-in times will be 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM
.

4. All steers must have a sponsor who has agreed to offer the first bid at the Wood County Sale in the amount of $200.00 above the market price as established by a floor bid prior to the show.

5. All steers must be led to scales at weigh-in by one 4-H of FFA member. Any animal judged unworthy or unruly by the Sifting Committee will not be permitted in the show or sale and the sponsor is released from all obligations.

6. All steers must show a minimum daily rate of gain of 2.0 pounds per day established from the official weigh-in to the final weigh-in. Each steer shall weigh a minimum of 950 lbs at final weigh-in and have gained a minimum of 2.0 lbs. per day with a maximum weight of 1450 pounds.  Those gaining less than 2.0 pounds per day will be sifted.

7. The Steer Superintendent shall have the responsibility of determining the weight ranges for the respective classes. An attempt will be made to keep the ranges as narrow as possible. The judge will be given the final weight of the steer and the steer’s total gain from official weigh-in to final weigh-in.

8. Steers must be judged for sale order immediately after the conclusion of the steer show.

9. At the Thursday check in prior to the show, all steers must be uniformly slick-sheared to no more than
¼ inch all over from the knees and hock up. Hair below the knees and hock may be exhibited clipped or in a
natural flat state.

10. Exhibitors must show and sell their own animal.

11. Any deviation from these rules will require Livestock Show Executive Board action.

12. Steers must be weighed in on Thursday between 5:00 and 7:30 PM
.

13. There will be a 15 pound scale tolerance at weigh-in and at final weigh-in time.

14. Steers will be weighed no more than two times on the day of the final weigh-in
