SPECIAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
MARKET SWINE SHOW


1. All entries in this department will be subject to the general Rules of the Wood County Jr. Livestock Market Show except where they conflict with these “Special Rules” in which case these “Special Rules” will prevail.

2. Exhibitors may show one barrow.

3. Entries will be tagged and weighed January 12, 2009  at the Quitman High School Ag Farm between 12 noon and 5 pm by the Swine Superintendent or his representative.  All swine entries will have a digital photo taken of them for future verification. 


4. Completed Project Entry forms and entry fee must be presented to superintendent  prior to validation.

5. There will be no replacement of swine entries after validation.

6. All swine entered must have a sponsor who has agreed to offer the first bid at the Wood Co. Jr. Market Show Sale in the amount of $200.00.

7. Any animal judged unworthy or unruly by the Sifting Committee of the day of the final weight-in would not be permitted in the show or sale. The sponsor is released from all obligations.

8. Sifting will result from not meeting weight requirements, un-thriftyness, undesirable confirmation or any physical defect. Final decision will be made by the sifting committee.

9. All sifted swine must be removed from the show facility before 9:00 PM the day of the final weigh-in.

10. Sifted and/or ineligible entries shall not be included in the purchasing contract between the commercial swine buyer and show association.

11. All entries must weigh between 230 and 285 lbs. at the time of final weight in. There will be a 10-pound scale tolerance. All entries not meeting weight requirements will be sifted. Swine entries will be weighed at a time designated by superintendent and the official scales will be the only ones allowed and are for official use only.

12. Each entry will be weighed no more than twice. This weight will be the official show weight and final weight for the record keeping and sale purpose. All swine must be weighed between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM on Thursday.

13. The Market Swine Superintendent shall be responsible for determining the classes for the Swine Show. An  attempt will be made to equalize class size and weight range within the classes.

14. Sale order will be determined by ranking the highest placing animals in each class. Blue ribbon animals will rank higher than red and white ribbon animals.

15. Any deviation from these rules will require action from the Livestock Show Association Executive Board.

16. No oil, powder or type dressing may be used on hogs. Water only! Violation of this rule will result in entry being sifted.
